Board Member Bio – Laura Sessions

My name is Laura Sessions, and I have been a member of the Forrest Spence Fund board since 2009. I serve as the secretary for the board, and I also help with registration and the financial aspect of the Forrest Spence 5K fundraiser. I am happily married to Richie Sessions and we have 3 children ages 3, 6 and 8. Shortly after we moved to Memphis in 2007, I lost my brother after a 6-month battle with cancer. That same year, I watched my friends the Spence’s walk through a similar situation when they lost Forrest. When you have a loved one that is sick in the hospital for an extended period of time it is very difficult. That is why I believe that what the fund is doing is so important. By coming alongside and supporting the non-medical needs of the ill children and their families we are providing a huge service to them. It is a time of uncertainty, stress and sadness, and through the fund we are providing them with some much needed comfort and support. I hope to see the fund continue to grow so that we can continue to provide for these families in even larger ways.
